My natural hair journey

  • First let me say– this has been one long week– yeah I know it’s only Tuesday but starting last Tuesday till now– its been cray!

    I have officially been through my first hurricane in Louisiana and let me say– it wasn’t fun– well I’m lying– it was fun for the first day without electricity but honey after two, three , four and five days past and you’re moving from one location/house to another sharing air and space–it starts to wear on you.

    But I can say that we survived, we were blessed and thank God for my lovely in-laws and all the hard workers who worked endless hours to restore energy back to almost 300,000 citizens in the Louisiana area.

    And also thanks to all the prayers and well wishers from all you lovely people— it really meant a lot –muah!

    Any who–soooo–

    I love challenges, so when my oldest son asked me why he never seen me with long hair & then double dogged dared me (it’s a pre-teen thing) to not cut my hair till he graduates (5 years). I was up for the challenge!

    Now……………{long sigh}……….before I get into how I am going to try to do this let me tell you one thing.

    1. I don’t like long hair.

    So yes, I just agreed-ed to something that is going to drive me nuts for the next five years.

    Thanks son ( added chores might be in your future) {wink}

    But while doing all my research– I realized that going natural would be my best bet if I want long healthy hair–so starting April 12,2012 I decided to go without the creamy crack and go a 100% natural.

    So here’s what’s going on–this is my length now

    Sorry I don’t have any pics of my hair before I cut it so we’re just going to start the journey now-

    My front and sides are longer then my back and top due to how my hair was cut originally so my plan is to transition for 6-9 months and then cut all the rest of my relaxer off. We’ll see how that goes.

    So are you rocking your hair– are you on the natural hair kick?
