One thing I am learning with social networks is moderation.

There are SOOOOO many out there, it can be very overwleming!

I decided to drop it down to the ones that work for me, for now.

That being:

Facebook

Twitter

Pinterest

and at times G+.

Twitter being my main thrust.

The beauty of slowing it down to these is just being able to focus on them. I feel I can learn them better, and already know somewhat what I am doing. ;)

I don't have time to learn digg, empire, etc and etc. Stumbleupon is becoming a burden, as once again, time contraints cause me not to learn the system better.

Trying to bring good content to a blog AND learn and use social media is trying at times. BUT moderation seems to be a key, at least one I've found.

Anyone else agree? :) What are you tactics to dealing with your social media picks?

Sarah, you are so right! Moderation is the key. There is no sense in sitting down at the computer and finding yourself still sitting there hours later, getting nothing else accomplished! You gave very good tips!

This is something I find challenging every day. I have a few different Facebook groups that I'm active with, plus two Facebook fan pages, plus a Twitter account, plus three profiles for Google+, plus StumbleUpon...Ugh...it's a lot.

But - when I know I need to buckle down and get writing done, I've become rather good at setting my mind to focus on what needs to be done and then pushing through with social media blinders on until it's done. That only works if I don't have a gazillion other things pulling at my brain because of an over scheduled task list. :)

Moderation is totally the key! I get overwhelmed with all the options out there...I don't know how some people do it and still have time to get the laundry done and dinner cooked and to play with the kids! LOL I stick to Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter...and here!

This is a real time sucker for me, because I have 4 business pages on FB. FB works the best for me for my product photos, and Google indexing, and I create daily themes to post within. I keep to a schedule, and feed my posts to Twitter. I find Triberr works well for me to tweet for others. I G+ my posts when published, and I make it to Klout when I get notifications. I had to completely drop Empire....way too demanding. Pinterest doesn't give me their tool bar, and I've given up on them, but really have no time for it anyway. I do notice that it feeds a lot of Traffic to my Etsy shop on its own. You can't really pin your own stuff anyway, right? I stumble posts sent to me, and occasionally stumble my own, and send them. I think I could utilize Stumbleupon better though.

I use Hootsuite.com to schedule Facebook and twitter. But that being said, I stick to research and from what I hear is that Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter are the ones with the biggest returns. So I concentrate on those.

Moderation is the key. There are a few sites I only visit once or twice a week. If a site becomes too much with nothing in my favor to stay--Good-bye.

That is really information because I found my self apart of sites and didn't remember how I signed up or when. I had so many emails right before I hopped back into blogging that it took me 2 days to reclaim my email. 8000 emails later I deleted a lot of account that I didn't use and that weren't that useful to me to begin with. So i mainly using Twitter Facebook for now. I just go into pinterest so don't want to attach my blog to it until I fully understand how to use it.

I use Facebook and Twitter nearly daily. For everything else I visit much less often (although I do have them scheduled on my to do list). I'm actually thinking of deleting a lot of accounts that aren't working and just focus on those that do, but I like giving everything a several month trial run first.

I'm on Twitter and Facebook daily, even though my FB page is still small. I use Pinterest mainly because it's fun, but I'm not really sure how to promote my blog with it. I *just* signed up for StumbleUpon, and I don't get it!

Hopefully this helps a bit. In regards to pinterest, the easiest thing you can do is start responding to people and images so that they can respond to your boards as well. That's one way to gain more followers. When you respond to their stuff they'll respond to yours. We can do an education on Pinterest. We did a few educational pieces on certain bits and can get it going again soon.
