Bucket List!

My kids are still pretty young (5 and 11 months) - and this summer I have the luxury of being off work for most of it. So I created a bucket list of things for us to do while I am still off work. We're already knocking things off the list (and adding new ones LOL) but the most important thing, we are having fun! Here's the link to the list:

My oldest LOVES to be outside, no matter what time of year, so I am sure most of his favourite activities will be outdoors. We took him mini-golfing for the first time last weekend and he loved it. His grandparents bought him his first set of golf clubs last year so we go to the driving range and heloves that. He's signed up for soccer camp for the first time this year. And we LOVE to go to the beach, especially in the mornigs before it gets crazy hot and crazy busy. So excited for summer!!

My kids favorite summer activity is swimming! We are lucky enough to have a pool. If my kids could they would live in it from the time we open it to the time we close it in Sept. I have to say I love watching them swim. Today seeing my two boys swim together, and my oldest help my youngest really made my heart smile!! Enjoy the warm weather!!

Our favorite summer activites are usually riding our quads on the mountain trails. Since the fire danger is so high this year here in AZ, they've closed most of our trails and we haven't been able to go out and ride. :o(

such a fun list. I just took a look. My kids are very young (2 and 4 months) but water activities, bubbles, really easy and simple crafts seem to help. I just did this fun one with my two year old. We cut a swim styrofoam noodle into pieces and laced it with string and then hung it for fourth of july. that only cost me a $1 and looks cute plus it kept his attention for a good while.

Jamie, I'm so sorry you are going through this, please know my thoughts and prayers are with you. The fires are so horrible. Kathryn that sounds like such a cute idea!!! When mine were little I always kept a kiddie pool even though we have a swimming pool. They loved playing in it and it could keep them happy for hours!!! They also could play very happily with the hose while they watered my plants. The grass and the kids always saw more water than my plants but it was fun to hear them giggle!!!

we love the pool---also soccer(starts a little later in the summer) and daughter does gymnastics. This year we're excited for the Olympics and my daughter's become the lil cook. My son set a goal to read two books a week--at 6 I think that's great!

@Pamela - what a wonderful goal that your son has set! Two books a week is awesome! My son has also asked to do a soccer camp this summer, so that's on the list now.

We are knocking off some of the items on our list (even with our terrible rainy weather...we had three times the amount of precipitation in June than normal...though having had a major forest fire come through our city a few years ago...I will take rain any day over fire threats...@Jamie, I am sorry to hear about the fire danger, and totally understand how frustrating that is).

I just pulled up my list and here's what we've already accomplished:

Swimming

I'm super happy with that! Next week we are off to Calgary for the Stampede and to visit the Zoo...so looking forward to it!

I can't wait to read more of everyone's ideas!

My kids are only 6 and 4 - and they are happy just to be at home and not school. If I asked them what they like most it would have to be riding their bikes and going swimming.

Living in an apartment, I knew I couldn't make it through this summer with 3 rowdy boys if I didn't keep them busy, so I think I planned something for EVERY day this summer. Here's what we've done so far:

multiple trips to the parks with water features (luckily, we've got quite a few of those nearby)
Trip to the tidepools
Drive In (found out it doesn't work with the Mini Master :-( )
Santa Ana Zoo
Mc Donald's/ Carl's Jr. lunch dates
Moody Monsters (craft)
Ice Cream sundae play date
Movie Night In (made popcorn and had a marathon)
Pizza Party (kids made mini-pizzas)
Chalk Day Picnic

We've got TONS more on the list, though. Too much to list- lots more crafts (I'll post pics and instructions on my blog later, though), trips to the beach, aquarium, museums- there's even a park nearby that has free train rides on a mini-steam engine. And, if I have anything to say about it, we'll be ending the summer with Snail races- yes- SNAIL races. I did it when I was in elementary school and it was actually a lot of fun. We made mini banners and picked out the snail we wanted to use, and we made it a big deal. Sounds silly, but it was a blast. I'm thinking that I'll even make the winner a mini trophy, lol.

we take the kids to the local pool, which they love. We also travel to the beach and movies, and running around in the sprinkler. We also enrolled them into gymnastics. Going to the park is another favorite.

My Kids Love To Be Outside So I Will Take Them To The Beach, Park, For A Walk Or To Play Baseball Or Soccer.

I have a 4 year old son and his favorite summer activities are swimming and going to storytime at our local library! Our library has amazing programs for kids! My son usually attends 2 classes a week during the summer. He goes to music class, art class, cooking class, and storytime reading. He loves it and I think it's great for kids his age!

Its sounds totally gross to most people, but its actually a lot of fun- and -since snails move SLOWLY, lol- it entertains them for a while, lol.

They have so many listed which is great!
My big boys have reading on top of there list, 1 big chapter book a week which is good to me, I love that they love to read!

Swimming (they do this everyday, glad we have a pool they have so much fun)
Library
bowling
4h club
fair
peach picking
Ocean City, MD (boardwalk, rides)
out to dinner
Movie night
Movies (there are like 3 that come out in the summer)
make bubbles
make sidewalk chalk
Park play dates with homeschool families
sleepovers (kids love my house :-)
Cookouts

We usually do everything on our list, we are almost half done!

My son loves swimming and basically just hanging out with his cousins. However, since we've moved (from IL to TN), it takes so much more effort now to let him be with family. We just spent an extended July 4th vacation with them and it was a joy to see my son have such a great time with the other little ones he's missed so much. If it's just us, we try to take him out biking and swimming at the gym.

My kids love, love, love swimming. We are on the swim team, practice every morning, meets twice a week, and in our pool at home. We also play baseball, soccer, and take short trips to stay in the hotel with dad (my husband works out of town during the week and we go stay with him sometimes - kids just love staying in a hotel).

Water balloons. They could play with those every day and not get bored, LOL!

My kids loved these when they were little, too. And of course, I loved them because I would have to help fill and tie each one AND pick up the balloon fragments in the yard before the dog got to them!

My kids loved their Intex pool or Slip N Slides.
