|       | 1) When did you start blogging? January 2012 2) Why did you choose food to write about? There are several reasons why I started blogging about food. The reasons all seemed to meld together at just the right time and the blog was born! Here are my reasons: As a Wife and Mom to two lovely boys, I spend a lot of time in the kitchen preparing meals and treats for everyone. I am currently home on maternity leave and was starting to tire of our "same old" meals and needed to start expanding our meal repertoire. I have a cupboard full of cookbooks and a huge binder full of recipes that I have been collecting since childhood. I made a resolution at the beginning of this year to prepare one new recipe each week (to start expanding the repertoire). Not long after making the resolution, a friend of mine through JCI put a call out to her friends looking for a Mom/Guest Blogger to write a monthly article for her website, Okanagan4Kids.com. I answered the call, and decided then and there to start blogging about my new recipe adventures on my own blog too. I have always loved to write, and blogging gives me the opportunity to write again. And that is how all the fun began! 3) Why are you passionate about food? While I love my desserts and I love creating desserts, I am also conscious of ensuring my family eats healthier. I try to encourage cooking from scratch and being mindful of things like sodium levels and eating plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. I am not fanatical about it, just trying to teach my children to eat well and show them better food choices by setting a good example for them. 4) What are your favorite recipes? I do have a sweet tooth and a soft spot for cookies. My favorite cookies are my Mom's chocolate chip cookies. But I do also have some not sweet favorites, such as Savoury Fish and homemade Chicken Vegetable Noodle Soup (recipes are on my blog). 5) What do you love about cooking? I love to create. I have a creative side, I enjoy scrapbooking and card making and crafting projects. Cooking is crafting too! I also like knowing what is in our meals and that my family is eating well, and I enjoy the challenges I create for myself by tackling new cooking or baking projects. But I don't like to do the dishes!. 6) Who do you love to cook for most? My husband and sons :-) 7) Do you have any advice for someone who wants to learn how to cook? Have FUN with it! The only way to learn is to try. Seeing what others do is a great help and inspiration. Read cooking blogs, watch cooking shows, and practice :-) Please visit "Addicted to Recipes " website for a collection of adventurous recipes! |     |
